Mary Claire Sager, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

Claire is an LGBTQIA+ affirming, sex and kink positive therapist who works with adults (18+) of all genders. She specializes in supporting individuals navigating the effects of acute and complex trauma, grief, shame, depression, and anxiety.

In her practice she uses tools from Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and integrates evidence-based approaches to support deep, lasting healing. Claire is a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner.

She understands that people naturally develop patterns in their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to survive difficult experiences. In therapy, Claire partners with clients to gently explore these patterns, honoring how they once helped while also examining how they may now affect well-being or relationships. Through this work clients clarify which patterns support growth and connection and which may be holding them back, creating practical and meaningful paths toward change.

Claire brings specialized expertise in how the nervous system responds to stress and trauma. She weaves this understanding into relational and mindfulness-based approaches, supporting healing at a deeply embodied level. Her work engages both the subcortical brain and the body, helping clients build greater awareness, resilience, and capacity for change.

After earning her undergraduate Psychology BA from University of Wyoming, Claire attained her Master of Arts in Professional Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Mind/Body/Spirit from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. She is a Nationally Board-Certified Counselor and an active member of the Alaska Psychological Association and the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD).
