Lori Hickman, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

Lori graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Alaska Pacific University with a Masters in Counseling Psychology. She enjoys working with adolescent and adults. She is a trained EMDR and Sensorimotor therapist working with individuals with disturbing or traumatic events in their lives, low self esteem or negative core beliefs about themselves or their world, grief and loss, and anxiety.

When working with families or couples she encourages them to identify their personal goals, encourages them to work together in achieving these goals, examines the role each plays in the family, and how change can be implemented to improve the family dynamic.

Lori works with the individuals in normalizing that change can be difficult, confusing, and can affect day to day living. She helps guide them to better understanding of oneself, uses a mindfulness approach to encourage them to observe who they are clearly and without judgment. Lori also helps explore their vision and set goals that most accurately and insightfully reflect their true values. Lori will work not only on meeting these goals, but how to sustain them. She will help the individual identify their strength to make a difference, examine ways to simplify their life, reduce stress, and enrich their life.

Lori enjoys participating in many activities with her family and plays racquetball, handball, and softball. She also likes to go camping and hiking and loves to snowboard in the winter.
