EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.
It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal. However, repeated studies show that by properly using EMDR, clients can experience the benefits of psychotherapy, that once took months or years, can now make a difference in a far shorter time period.
EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma, much as the body recovers from physical trauma.
"I would like to share something that I feel about EMDR versus regular talk therapy, and I sum it up like this: I think that conventional therapy is about managing internal pain and finding different behaviors to 'cope' with that pain, whereas EMDR essentially wipes it out."
